What is a Compression Sock, Who Needs One and Why?

Women's Hedgehog Compression Socks and their benefits

General compression socks are specifically made socks designed to be snug-fitting and stretchy socks that gently squeeze along the length of the sock. Graduated compression or pressure socks are tighter around your ankle getting looser as they move up your leg.

Traditionally Nurses have been known to harness the goodness that is a compression sock, but they can be beneficial to anyone on their feet all day such as retail workers, hospitality workers, as well as pregnant women.
Basically, compression socks have been known to improve blood flow which can lessen pain and swelling in your legs as well as easing some circulation problems.

Some athletes, including runners, wear compression socks with the theory is that, during activity, better blood flow will help get oxygen to their muscles and the support will help prevent tissue damage and post exercise cramping.

They are said to, in short, help:

  • Reduce leg fatigue
  • Reduce varicose and spider veins
  • Reduce leg fatigue
  • Reduce swelling
  • Aid with muscle recovery

Back in the day compression socks have been known to be pretty plain and boring… not any more!
