One thing we are super passionate about at The Sockery is recycled anything! It is truly shocking to know that, annually, Australian’s acquire an average of 27 kilograms of new clothing per person, and discard almost as much, around 23 kilograms of clothing, to landfill each year.
One of our fave brands SolMate go to great lengths to reduce the footprint of their socks and are actually a certified B Corporation which means they do things a little differently to most manufacturers. They believe that fashion and sustainability should go hand in hand and they do all they can to reduce their impact on tomorrow. They do this by using sustainably sourced, eco-friendly fibres so that fashion is not compromising your ethics!
SolMate Socks are made using scraps that would normally go to landfill. They use a unique upcycling system that allows them to turn regular textile waste into quality, upcycled yarns. These yarns are re-spun from remnants to create their own yarns that don’t have extra dyes added, further reducing the processes.
What’s great about these socks is that you can walk around holding your head high. You know you have not caused a burden on the planet plus you can show off your ‘threads’ with your morals intact. To boot these socks are super cool – each pair is perfectly mismatched as life is too short to be boring!
